Dev Graphs will be removed from Apollo Studio on August 12, 2022

On August 12, 2022, all existing dev graphs in Apollo Studio will be removed. If you are currently using dev graphs in Studio, we recommend using Apollo Sandbox instead to connect and query locally running graphs.

Why are we sunsetting dev graphs?

Sandbox provides the same great benefits as dev graphs and more without requiring you to log into Apollo Studio. Since releasing Sandbox back in Summer 2021, we’ve received tons of great feedback from the community, and it’s become the go-to local development experience for over 145,000 monthly users. As such, we’ve decided to make Sandbox our default experience for developing graphs locally. We are sunsetting dev graphs so that we can place our full focus on further improving Sandbox.

What can you expect on August 12th?

A few days ago, we removed the ability to create new dev graphs in Apollo Studio. If you have existing dev graphs in Studio (indicated by the DEV GRAPH tag on the Graphs page) that you created before then, they will be removed on August 12, 2022. All other graphs in Apollo Studio will remain unchanged and fully accessible.

If you are still actively using any dev graphs in Apollo Studio, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with Sandbox before August 12th and begin to use it for your local development.
