Apollo Community Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
Terms of Service
These terms govern the use of the Internet community at http://community.apollographql.com (“Community”). To use this Community, you must agree to these terms with Apollo Graph, Inc. (“Apollo” or “Company” or “we” or “us”), the company that runs the community. We may offer other products and services, under different terms. These terms apply specifically to the use of and membership in the Apollo Community.
Important Terms
These terms include several important provisions that affect your rights and responsibilities, such as the disclaimers in Disclaimers, limits on our liability to you in Limits on Liability, your agreement to cover the company for damages caused by your misuse of the community in Responsibility for Your Use Disputes
Additionally, these terms incorporate by reference the Apollo Community Code of Conduct and our Privacy Policy.
Your Permission to Use the community
Subject to these terms, Apollo permits you to use this Community for its intended networking and knowledge-sharing purposes. All Community members must agree to these terms to access the Community.
Conditions for Use of the Community
Your permission to use the community is subject to the following conditions:
- You must be at least eighteen years old.
- You may no longer use the Community if an Apollo representative contacts you directly to say that you may not.
- You must use the Community in compliance with these terms of Service and the Apollo Community Code of Conduct (link).
Acceptable Use
You may not:
- Break the law using the Community.
- Use or try to use another person’s account in the Community without their specific permission.
- Buy, sell, or otherwise trade in user names or other unique identifiers in the Community.
- Send advertisements, chain letters, or other solicitations through the Community, or use the Community to gather addresses or other personal data for commercial mailing lists or databases.
- Automate access to the Community (e.g., web crawlers, plugins, or other programs), except to index it for a publicly available search engine you run.
- Use the Community to send e-mails to distribution lists, newsgroups, or group mail aliases.
- Falsely imply that you’re affiliated with or endorsed by Apollo.
- Hyperlink to images or other non-hypertext content on the Community from other webpages in a manner that bypasses usage restrictions or attempts to host content externally.
- Remove any marks showing proprietary ownership from materials you download from the Community.
- Show any part of the Community on other websites with

without permission. - Disable, avoid, or circumvent any security or access restrictions of the Community.
- Strain Community infrastructure with an unreasonable request volume, or requests designed to impose an unreasonable load on underlying information systems.
- Impersonate others through the Community.
- Encourage or help anyone in violation of these terms.
Content Standards
You may not submit content to the Community that:
- Is illegal, harassing, or otherwise harmful to others (including content that is defamatory, abusive, and/or hateful).
- Violates intellectual property rights of others or breaches any contractual obligations.
- Contains malicious code, such as viruses or spyware.
- Is submitted merely to hold a particular address, user name, or other unique identifier.
- Violates the Apollo Community Code of Conduct.
If you are participating in Community groups that are invite-only where sensitive information may be shared amongst members (such as Apollo Champions), you are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to disclose any information you submit.
Enforcement
Apollo may investigate and prosecute violations of these terms to the fullest legal extent. We may notify and cooperate with law enforcement authorities in prosecuting illegal behavior.
We reserve the right to change, redact, and delete content on the Community for any reason, including violations of these terms or the Apollo Community Code of Conduct. If you believe someone has submitted content in violation of these terms, please contact us immediately at community@apollographql.com or follow the reporting procedures under the Apollo Community Code of Conduct.
Your Account
You must create and log into an account to use some of the features of the Community.
When creating an account, you agree to provide at a minimum, a valid e-mail address, name, and company/employer affiliation. You further agree to keep this information up-to-date.
You may close your account at any time by emailing community@apollographql.com.
You remain responsible for all actions taken through your account until you close it or notify us of a possible compromise. You agree to notify the company immediately if you suspect your account has been compromised. You agree to select a secure password for your account and keep it protected.
We may restrict, suspend, or close your account if we reasonably believe that you’ve violated these terms or the Apollo Community Code of Conduct.
Your Content
Ownership. You retain all rights in intellectual property you share in the Community, such as your account information, posts, or other content. Nothing in these terms gives you any ownership rights in Apollo’s intellectual property.
No Implied Sponsorship. You agree not to falsely imply that your content is sponsored or approved by Apollo.
License to Apollo. By submitting content to the Community, you grant us a license to copy, publish, and analyze that content for operation of, and improvements to, the Community.
Removal of Your Content. When content is removed from the Community, our license ends once the last copy is removed from tbackups, caches, and other systems. However, licenses you have given to other users (e.g., such as Creative Commons licenses), may continue.
Community Violations. You acknowledge the possibility that other users may violate the terms under which you license your content. You expressly agree that Apollo and its directors, employees, officers, and agents (“Apollo Parties”) are not liable to you or any third party for any such misuse. This disclaimer is intended to be strictly construed.
Your Responsibility
You agree to indemnify the Apollo Parties from legal claims by others related to your or your account’s breach of these terms or the Apollo Community Code of Conduct. Both of us agree to notify the other promptly of any such legal claims. If we fail to notify you promptly, you are not responsible for damages you could have mitigated with timely notice. You agree to allow Apollo to control the defense and settlement of such claims at your cost, and you further agree to cooperate in that defense.
Disclaimers
You accept all risks of using the Community and content therein. Apollo and its suppliers provide the Community on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without any warranty (implied or otherwise), to the fullest extent permitted by laws.
The Community, including any invite-only groups (e.g., Apollo Champions), may include business, technical, or other advice from users. Nothing in the Community should be taken as professional or legal advice.
The Community may hyperlink to and integrate services run by others. We make no warranty about third party services. Use of those services is governed by terms between you and the third party.
Limits on Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall the Apollo Parties, or any of our affiliates,’ suppliers’ or licensors’ respective officers, directors, employees, agents, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from: (i) your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Community; (ii) any conduct or content of any third party on the Community; (iii) any content obtained from the Community; or (iv) unauthorized access, use or alteration of your transmissions or content.
Our total liability to you or any third party for any and all claims arising from or relating to these terms or your use of the Community, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory, shall be limited to the lesser of: (a) the amount you paid to use the Community in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you

By submitting feedback, you agree the Company may act on it without obligation to notify or compensate you. Do not submit confidential or proprietary feedback on behalf of yourself or others.
Termination
You or Apollo may end this agreement at any time. When our agreement ends, your permission to use the Community also ends.
The termination of these terms for any reason will not affect the rights and obligations that have accrued prior to termination, nor any provisions of these terms that, by their nature or express terms, survive or are intended to survive termination, including without limitation provisions relating to Your Content, Feedback, Responsibility, Disclaimers, Limits on Liability, Indemnification, Governing Law, Dispute Resolution, Arbitration, Class Action Waiver, Severability, Assignment, and General Terms.
Disputes
Governing Law. California law will govern any dispute related to these terms or your use of the Community.
Jurisdiction. You agree to seek injunctions related to these terms only in state or federal court in San Francisco, California. You will not object to jurisdiction or venue in those courts.
Arbitration. Except for injunctions or Computer Fraud and Abuse Act claims, disputes will be resolved by binding American Arbitration Association (AAA) arbitration in San Francisco, under AAA’s Commercial Arbitration Rules and Supplementary Procedures for Consumer Related Disputes.
No Class Actions. You will settle any dispute as an individual, and not as part of a class action or other representative proceeding, whether as the plaintiff or a class member. No arbitrator will consolidate any dispute with any other arbitration without Apollo’s permission.
Arbitration Awards. Any arbitration award will include arbitration costs, reasonable attorneys’ fees, and reasonable witness costs. Awards may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
General Terms
Severability. If a provision of these terms is unenforceable as written, but could be changed to make it enforceable, that provision should be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable. Otherwise, that provision should be removed.
Assignment. You may not assign your agreement with the Company. The Company may assign your agreement to any affiliate of the Company, any other company that obtains control of the Company, or any other company that buys assets of the Company related to the Community. Any attempted assignment against these terms has no legal effect.
No Waiver. Neither the exercise of any right under this Agreement, nor waiver of any breach of this Agreement, waives any other breach of this Agreement.
Entire Agreement. These terms embody all the terms of agreement between you and the company about the use of the community. These terms entirely replace any other agreements about your use of the community, written or not.

Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post updates to the Community and email you if you have an account with a valid email. You must agree to any updated terms to continue using the Community.
